August:

August 24:           First Day of School; SEPTA membership email

August 29:           Walk & Roll for Awareness (event by Siblings of the Exceptional)

      • Date: Saturday, August 29, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
      • Location: Kilmer Center School
      • Cost: Free to attend
      • Purpose: Raising awareness for individuals with special needs and supporting special equipment and resources for Kilmer Center School

Siblings of the Exceptional is organizing a WALKATHON-Walk & Roll for Awareness on Saturday, August 29. The event is completely free and welcomes individuals of all abilities, along with their families, friends, and community members. While there is no registration fee, donations are welcome and will help support the purchase of special equipment and resources for students at Kilmer Center School. SEPTA representatives will be there to support the event and answer questions about membership this tenth anniversary year.

September:

September 24:    SEPTA General Membership Meeting, virtual

      • Date and time: Thursday, September 24, 7pm
      • Location: Virtual via Zoom (registration link to follow)
      • Cost: Free to attend
      • Purpose: Get organized for this year’s school journey! Meet SEPTA’s officers, approve SEPTA’s budget and advocacy priorities, and learn strategies for beginning the year well with your school team.

September 26:    Joint POAC/SEPTA meeting, Inclusion panel, and lunch fundraiser

      • Date and time: Saturday, August 29, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm (lunch to follow)
      • Location: West Springfield Government Center and via Zoom (registration link to follow)
      • Cost: Free to attend
      • Purpose: This program and panel will provide FCPS teachers, staff, and families with insights into how inclusion initiatives are working on the ground at our preschool/elementary, secondary, middle, and high schools. We are also interested in hearing from anyone who has participated in inclusive events and programming at their schools. If you are interested in participating as a panelist, please complete and submit this linked form.

October 30:         Deadline for Mini-Grants submissions, midnight

 

November:

November 5:       SEPTA General Membership Meeting, virtual

November 14:     FCPS Special Education Conference
